We are very fortunate to have Merrimac Dog Training Club. There is no other facility like it in the area. Our members are friendly, helpful, energetic and most of all - LOVE DOGS. Being a member has a lot of advantages, the most valuable - the use of a large building with equipment that we can use to train our dogs. Then we get classes at a reduced rate, instead of paying the $70.00 fee, we can take classes for $20.00, in return for 10 hours of volunteering our time and attending two membership meetings. Since the club sponsors matches, run-throughs etc., it is very easy to get that time. Member benefits 10 hours worked = key (this is the required minimum to be a "member in good standing" 25 hours worked = training fee waived (instructors would get training fee waived & 2 class fees) 50 hours worked = 4 class fees, training fee and dues Instructors get $100.00 towards workshops and seminars. They must present their receipt to the Training Director. The workshops and seminars should be a related subject that they teach, plan to teach, or may teach in the future. To be eligible for membership, you must become a prospective member and complete the following requirements within a maximum of 12 months: have your application on file for six months, complete at least one class in any two non-concurrent training sessions, attend two general membership meetings, complete 15 hours of service, and secure the signature of two members who are willing to sponsor you.
To get started on your membership, call 723-8141 for an application. Sign up for classes. Attend two meetings as soon as you can - the dates of the meetings are posted on the front page of the web site. IT’S THAT EASY! |
